Company branding – can it affect your staff turnover?

A strong employer brand can reduce staff turnover
Three ways to improve your company brand and help retain and attract new employees.
Did you know that a strong employer brand reduces staff turnover by 28% (LinkedIn’s research, 2021 | PDF). The way in which you communicate your company, its values and including employees in day-to-day decision making can make a huge difference to how you recruit and how your staff perceive the company.
This week is Employer Branding Week, so what are the top three ways you can raise awareness of your company brand both internally and externally?
Values – more so than ever a company's values count.
From being socially and environmentally responsible, demonstrating active inclusion, to taking responsibility for your employee's health and wellbeing. Today’s job seekers are looking for companies who understand that balancing work and day-to-day life matters. In Deloitte’s Global Gen Z and Millennials’ Survey, “nearly two in five” had rejected a job or assignment because it did not align with their values.
Wellbeing – taking into account today's pressures
Whether it’s opportunities for remote working, or trialling four-day weeks, companies need to demonstrate a commitment to supporting employees' mental health and wellbeing. Work environments, financial pressures and the speed at which change is taking place is causing a rise in employee burnout. Taking time to listen, reassess and actively support employees will not only help with staff retention but attract new employees in the process.
Development – keeping pace with change
Potential and current employees are looking for companies who are committed to their future; and they are not afraid to move on if the right development opportunities do not exist. With AI and the metaverse shaping how industries evolve and interact with one another, upskilling employees and ensuring the right technology is in place to support these developments will be key.
Employer branding from your logo, tone of voice, and social media presence to your values and commitments and how you run your recruitment process all makes a huge difference to today’s job seekers and employees.
